Nevermind

Well, I kind of shot myself in the foot with that last entry. Last night was pretty much a bust.

I went to Rave of Thrones, or, A Night of Ice and Fire with Kristian Nairn and MORE. The event was at the Hard Rock Café in Times Square. I got there with my friend Annalise around 8:40 and the event still hadn't started. We sat in the last row on the upper level. There was a costume contest, a Westerosi spelling bee, then an hour and a half panel with Kristian Nairn (Hodor), Finn Jones (Loras Tyrell), and Keisha Castle-Hughes (Obara Sand) which Game of Owns presided over. Annalise was really hungry at that point so we popped out to get food. When we returned David Peterson, the man who creates all the languages for the show (Dothraki, Valyrian), was giving a talk ; something, to be honest, I probably would have loved to see. It was well past 11 at this point and the event wasn't supposed to go past midnight. Annalise gave up and left, apologizing profusely.

Finally, Kristian Nairn came on and DJed an hour set. It was pretty empty considering the size of the venue, so I was able to get right up to the front of the stage. I was very sober, alone, and dancing among a crowd of nerds, to whom dancing does not always come naturally. There was one man with a backpack on who stood stock still front and center at the edge of the stage for the entire set. The highlight of the night was that the actress who plays Obara came out and danced next to me. She's teeny tiny.

Then it was over at 12:30. With no sign of the Game of Owns hosts I left, defeated. I didn't get to meet anyone after all.
